Staying Calm
Remaining level-headed after a car accident is essential. Accidents can be traumatic in more ways than one, so it’s important to keep your emotions in check and prioritize the safety of everyone around you. Check to make sure that you and everyone involved are okay.
Move to a Safe Area
After you make sure everyone is okay, go ahead and exit your vehicle if possible. Some cars may catch on fire after an accident, so take caution and get out of the car as soon as possible.
Once everyone is safely out of the car and off the road, call 9-1-1 and the paramedics if necessary. Do not leave the scene of the accident before the authorities arrive, as they will tell you when it’s okay to leave.
Exchange Information
After all is said and done, check on the other vehicle and the people involved. If they need help or medical assistance, do what you can while you wait for the paramedics to arrive. Don’t forget to exchange insurance and contact information and take several pictures of the damage done to your car.
