The new Chevy Equinox comes with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 175 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. The 2022 model topped out at 170 horsepower.
Like last year’s version, the engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission routing power to standard front-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive. The added power comes with another new feature: an upgraded braking system that now includes an electronic booster.
New Exterior Options
There are some new stylistic choices for Philly area SUV buyers, too. New paint choices expand the color palette, including Radiant Red Tintcoat, Harvest Bronze Metallic, and Sterling Gray Metallic. There’s also a Midnight Edition appearance package that adds blacked-out trim and black 18-inch alloy wheels.

One reason the Chevy Equinox is a perennial best-seller is the number of great features it already has. The intuitive Chevrolet Infotainment System™ sports a seven-inch touchscreen (eight inches in the upper trims), with a standard Wi-Fi® hotspot, Bluetooth®, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ (both wireless), and five free years of OnStar®. A profusion of safety features, like lane departure warning, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking, and the Teen Driver system, keep you safe on every drive too.
There is also plenty of room for upgrades with options and trim-specific features. You can add wireless device charging, remote start, and a navigation system. You can also enhance the safety systems with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, or a surround-view parking camera system.
